I can’t believe that we have finished 6 weeks already! Time is flying!
This week we did the last of our workshops. For the Bible Study workshop a couple of the demonstrations were “bad” examples. One was hilarious! She did EVERYTHING wrong. She flew in apologizing for being 30 minutes late because she had to get to Starbucks. Didn’t have her book and had to follow with her student. Asked the student where they were starting then looked it over quickly before telling the student to read the paragraph while she fixed her coffee! After one badly done paragraph she got a call on her phone and said that she had to meet friends for hiking so they would do the next paragraph on the following week. We were killing ourselves! I don’t know how she kept it together. Great acting!
We had some visitors this week too. Actually, the Geedipallys had visitors and we joined in. The Gilbys, (for those of you that don’t know them, we met them in Newfoundland. We shared a room on our way out of NL on our trip to Africa, oh so many years ago!) dropped in for lunch. It was a day when there was a session for brothers only just before lunch so Leslie was out early. As it turned out we finished quite early too so I got to join in for a bit of catching up.
Our Saturday Morning Worship speaker was brother Mike Ferguson. They had recently been to Israel on a preaching tour so we had a slideshow and Bible commentary rather than comments on our day’s text. It was quite enjoyable! We have also heard that our graduation speaker will be brother Dale Clark! Yea!
Our lecture this week was from brother Morris. Excellent. More like a fireside chat of fatherly advice to the Gilead students. We loved it! One thing he said, about listening, “I never learned anything while my mouth was moving”. How true!

We had another anniversary in class this week. The Smiths celebrated their 12th! More balloons and little gifts. The ones having anniversaries in class will no doubt have fancier ones later, but they won’t forget the one in SKE-13!
We also, finally, got to meet my niece Holly’s husband! They took us for Thai food in Georgetown. It was great! Holly is knowledgeable in such things and ordered for us all. We heartily approve of Ray and look forward to seeing them again. Brief but great fun!
Here’s some nuggets of the week:
Regarding helping young ones: Don’t put it off. It is easier to steer a car away from the ditch than to try to pull it out.
For parents who don’t encourage their kids to get baptized: Don’t apply the “bloom of youth” principle to baptism! That was about marriage.
The goodness of the Mosaic Law: the gleaning law included …. grapes! The vast majority of grapes that the Israelites harvested were for … yeah, wine! Poor people could even have wine. yea!
How important is God’s Name? It is in the Scriptures over 7000 times. According to one source it is the 7th most frequent word in the Scriptures. It is used more frequently than the words “upon” (8th), “to” (9th), “all” (11th), “not” (13th) and “god” & “gods” (18th)!
Illustration to show the corresponding ransom: You have a car in the driveway but you have lost the key. You can no longer use it for the intended purpose. You need a replacement key, but not just any key. It must be identical to the one that was lost. Jesus was exactly what Adam had been.
And our favorite, for someone that needs to see the how foolish it is to keep smoking:

cigarettes are like squirrels. They don’t harm anyone until you stick one in your mouth and light fire to it!
